According to The Hong Kong Port Development Council, Hon Kong’s Kwai Tsing Container Terminal’s throughput increased 4.7% to 14.8 million TEU.

Earlier the average amount of time spent by container vessels at berth at Kwai Tsing Container Terminal was 11.5 hours whereas this year the average amount of time spent by container vessels was 11.8 hours at berth, according to Marine Department data.

The main reason behind longer berthing duration was size & loading capacity of ships were increased and loading & unloading time was longer.

There is an increase in the average number of containers loaded & unloaded at Kwai Tsing Container Terminal’s berth. It was 1,350 TEU in 2011, now it is 1,700 TEU.
